Mikhail Gorobtsov
|
Mikhail Gorobtsov began his musical career in 1977, working with the Gosteleradio Academic Orchestra in Bellarusia. He soon gained notoriety as an alto domra virtuoso, and become a soloist with the celebrated Ossipov Balalaika Orchestra under Nikolai Kalinin. Indeed, the recent recognition in Russia of the domra as a concert instrument is largely credited to Mr. Gorobtsov's activities - including his efforts to persuade contemporary composers to compose concert works for the alto domra. As a result of these efforts, such composers as V.Gorodovskaya, E.Derbenco, V.Kikta, N.Peico, V.Peshnyak, V.Pozhidaev, A,.Rogachev, J.Semashko, and I.lTamarin have written works expressly for Mr. Gorobtsov.
Mr. Gorobtsov is the recipient of several competitions, including the All-Russian Competition, and has received the distinguished title of People's Artist of Russia.
